BBC News covers the warehousing situation during the Covid-19 pandemic

Last week, we received a visit from BBC Correspondent Katy Austin who was working on a story about the warehousing situation in the UK during the pandemic. In short, goods are coming in to store, but little is going out due to the closure of retail shops, hotels and restaurants.

Her report begins in a cold store in the north of England and is later picked up by our own Joanne Gumery here in Birmingham.. It was broadcast on BBC News over the weekend of the 2nd and 3rd of May.

‘The warehouses where goods are piling up’

Shops and restaurants are selling less, but goods are still arriving at warehouses around the country. And as they pile up on the shelves, the warehouse owners worry how they will stay in business.

Business correspondent Katy Austin reports.
