Paul Ponsonby supports Combat Stress Paul Ponsonby helping veterans take on the future

We have recently been involved with and supported Combat Stress , the UK’s leading charity for veterans’ mental health. It’s a charity that is close to our hearts.

For over a century, they have helped former servicemen and women with mental health problems such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety and depression. With even more need for their services during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The work they do is life-changing and often life-saving.

Since 1919 they have provided support to veterans from every service and every conflict. The support they give is vital to those who turn to them at their darkest hour. For many, this is years after leaving the Armed Forces – on average, it takes a veteran 14 years to ask for help after leaving Service.

They aim to treat veterans’ symptoms and improve their quality of life. They want to help veterans tackle their past and take on the future.

They operate a 24-hour Helpline 0800 138 1619 which is available to all veterans and their families for confidential mental health advice and support which received 11,000 calls in 2020 – 2021 and they  have a range of online self-guided resources, to help veterans with a variety of mental health difficulties, including: PTSD, depression, anxiety, anger, and alcohol and substance misuse.

Our donation and support make a life-changing difference and helps buddy workers to provide a fellow veteran with guidance and reassurance during treatment, helps fund 1-2-1 sessions with an occupational therapist and helps pay towards a veteran’s appointment with a psychiatrist to assess, diagnose and to start to treat their symptoms.
